RunSport Victoria Society partners with Run Van Isle to support Vancouver Island Race Series

Monday, December 29, 2026 – Victoria, BC – RunSport Victoria Society is pleased to share its support of Run Van Isle (formerly the Vancouver Island Runners’ Association) and the continued operation of the Vancouver Island Race Series for the 2026 season.

As a non-profit organization dedicated to building a welcoming and inclusive running and walking community, RunSport owns and operates the TC10K and the Victoria Track Classic. Proceeds from these events are reinvested into initiatives that strengthen local sport, encourage participation at all levels, and support long-standing community partners.

For the upcoming season, RunSport is providing operational support to the Vancouver Island Race Series—a winter and spring tradition that has helped generations of runners and walkers stay active, connected, and motivated across the Island.

“The Vancouver Island Race Series reflects many of the same values that guide our work at RunSport,” said Keith Bridge, Executive Director of RunSport Victoria Society. “It welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities, strengthens local clubs, supports meaningful charities, and brings communities together through movement. We’re proud to support a series that has played such an important role in Island running for decades, and that continues to inspire people working toward spring goals, including the TC10K.”

Through its online registration process, the series collects donations that are directed to KidSport BC, helping ensure that children across Vancouver Island have access to sport regardless of financial barriers.

“Each of our eight races is delivered by local run clubs, with proceeds supporting both community-chosen charities and KidSport BC,” said Christopher Kelsall, President of Run Van Isle and General Manager of the series. “Support from RunSport helps us operate the series sustainably, ensuring that clubs can continue to deliver high-quality events while keeping our Island communities active and connected.”

Now entering its 46th year, the Vancouver Island Race Series begins on Sunday, January 11, 2026, with the Harriers’ Pioneer 8K at the Saanich Fairgrounds. The full eight-race schedule spans communities from Sooke to Courtenay, with distances ranging from 5 kilometres to the half marathon. More information is available at www.islandseries.org.

Two weeks after the conclusion of the series, runners and walkers will gather again for the TC10K on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Registration for the TC10K is now open at www.runsport.ca/tc10k.

RunSport Victoria Society is proud to support initiatives that celebrate participation, consistency, and community—values that have made the Vancouver Island Race Series an enduring part of Island running culture.
