The Victoria Track Classic is back this Sunday, June 22!
The Victoria Track Classic returns this Sunday, June 22, to UVic’s Centennial Stadium for an exciting afternoon of elite racing, family-friendly activities, and community celebration.
As part of the National Track and Field Tour, this annual event offers more than just top-tier competition, it’s a full experience for fans of all ages.
Kick Off the Afternoon with a Free Youth Clinic
The day begins with the VTC Run, Jump, Throw, presented by Andrew Sheret and powered by RunSport. Starting at 1:00 p.m., this free, one-hour session invites kids ages 5–10 to explore the basics of track and field through fun, game-based activities. It’s a great way to inspire the next generation of athletes in a playful and supportive environment.
Elite Competition Begins at 2:00 p.m.
When gates open at 1:30 p.m., the stadium shifts into high gear as Olympic-development athletes and local talents take to the track.
Don’t Miss the Thunder Run at 3:35 p.m.
Back by popular demand, the Thunder Run returns at 3:35 p.m., a thrilling 400m dash for kids, led by Thunder, the Vikes mascot. It is free to participate and always a highlight of the day. Kids can line up, run their hearts out, and enjoy a big cheer from the crowd.
Festival Atmosphere for Everyone
Beyond the races, spectators can enjoy a lively event atmosphere with music, food and drink vendors, and a kids zone with inflatables, making the event a perfect outing for families and sports fans alike.
