Lucy Smith Announced as 2023 TC10K Race Director

Victoria, BC - The RunSport Victoria Society, in partnership with event production company deFrias Management Group (DMG), is proud to announce Lucy Smith as the new Race Director for the 2023 TC10K.

"I am very excited to be the new race director for the TC10k and to work with DMG and the RunSport board on this great community event. The TC10k event is very close to my heart and has been a positive part of my family's life since I moved to the island in 2000," commented Lucy Smith.

Lucy Smith is no stranger to the TC10K; she has won the event on six occasions over her professional running career. Previously, as the Lead Coach for the RunSport Training Clinics, Lucy created the educational training program that helped many community members achieve their goal of running in the TC10K.

"From my involvement racing as an elite athlete to my work with the RunSport clinics, speaking to hundreds of local runners and walkers over the years, I have a deep appreciation for the TC10k and its role in creating a healthy community," stated Smith. "I look forward to our work over the upcoming eight months and seeing thousands of happy people on the start line of the TC10k next April."

Most recently, Lucy Smith was the interim CEO of Triathlon Canada. Smith provided operational leadership during a transition period and helped stabilize the organization over the year.

"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Lucy to our team at DMG. We work closely with RunSport Executive Director Keith Bridge, and I'm confident in our assembled team. I am looking forward to watching the growth of the TC10K," stated DMG Managing Director Mark deFrias. "It is a major community event in Victoria, one we all cherish deeply. Lucy's experience in the running community and as a leader will be instrumental as we continue to move this event and organization forward."

"We are so pleased to have Lucy join the team producing the TC10k in 2023," commented RunSport Victoria Society executive director Keith Bridge. "Lucy is well-known in the running community and offers leadership qualities to help us take this event to the next level. We are extremely excited to work with her and the team at DMG to produce an exceptional community event again in 2023."

The 2023 TC10k will return on Sunday, April 30th. Registration and pricing will be released at the end of the month.
